I was skeptical about the pencil grip, but it really does give you that control for tight curves—cut through some 3/8-inch basswood like butter. The 100 to 2000 strokes per minute range means I can slow it way down for the fragile bits, which saved me from breaking a half dozen pieces.

The variable speed dial is a game changer—cranking it up to 2000 strokes per minute makes quick work of pine. I was able to trace some tight curves in basswood just by holding it like a pencil. Definitely glad I picked this up for my detail work.
