Compare the 72-piece and 127-piece heat shrink tubing assortments on size range, storage, and price to pick the right kit for wiring models and small electrical repairs.
Quick answer
Choose the 127-piece assortment if you want more sizes and a compartmented storage box for varied model and electronics wiring. Choose the 72-piece kit if you mainly need 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm tubing in quantity and want to spend less.
Size range is the real difference
The 72-piece kit lists 24 pieces each of 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm diameter tubing, all 160 mm long. That covers common small-gauge wire joins, but it does not list other diameters. The 127-piece assortment lists various sizes without naming them, so it is the broader choice when you do not know every wire gauge in advance. If your work stays within those three diameters, the 72-piece kit gives you more pieces per size and a lower price.
Storage and organization trade-off
The 127-piece kit includes a sturdy plastic storage box with compartments, which keeps mixed sizes separated and makes the kit easy to carry. The 72-piece kit does not list a storage box, so you will need your own organizer if you want to keep sizes apart. That missing box is part of why the 72-piece kit costs less, but it also means more setup work before your bench is organized.
Material and heating are the same
Both assortments use polyolefin tubing that shrinks with heat from a heat gun or lighter. The 127-piece kit states it shrinks evenly and quickly; the 72-piece kit recommends a heat gun. Neither listing gives a shrink ratio, so do not assume a specific ratio for either kit. Match the tubing to the wire diameter and test-fit before heating.
Trade-offs to weigh before buying
- Size coverage vs. quantity per size: The 127-piece kit offers various sizes; the 72-piece kit gives 24 pieces each of 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm. Pick the 127-piece kit if you need unknown or mixed gauges; pick the 72-piece kit if those three diameters cover your work.
- Included storage vs. lower price: The 127-piece kit includes a compartmented storage box; the 72-piece kit does not list one. Budget for a small organizer if you choose the 72-piece kit and want separated sizes. Add the cost and space of an organizer to the 72-piece kit if tidy storage matters.
- Catalog price difference: The 127-piece kit is listed at USD 7.16 and the 72-piece kit at USD 6.57. The difference is small, so let size range and storage decide rather than price alone.
