I've been using this vise for drill press work, and the 2-1/2 inch jaws hold everything securely without slipping. The cast iron body feels solid enough for repeated heavy use.

The casting on this vise is nice and solid—no wobble at all when I clamp down a 2-inch steel block for drilling. It’s reassuring to have that kind of grip without any slipping.

The cast-iron body feels solid enough that I don't worry about the jaws shifting during drilling. Jaws open exactly to the advertised 2½ inches, which handles most of my tooling projects. Only wish the mounting slots were a touch wider for my drill press table.
