  • Designed for precise coverage of fine details, large surfaces, and layered weathering
  • Pairs well with Gunmetal, Engine Black, and Reefer Gray for industrial effects
  • Used in Model Railroading to paint rolling stock including freight cars bodies. Also, great for steel buildings, warehouses, and factories. Good to use on metal roofs
  • Made in the USA with premium airbrush-ready acrylic formula

Description

Air Steel Blue delivers the same rich, cool-toned blue-gray as the brush-on version (Item #29379), but is formulated specifically for airbrush use—no thinning required. It sprays smoothly with consistent opacity, making it perfect for steel hulls, aircraft bodies, armored plating, and sci-fi elements. The finish is matte with a faint sheen, ideal for realistic metallic simulation without high gloss.

Modeling Use Cases

• Naval & Air Models: Aircraft underside panels, interior ship structures, and carrier deck machinery
• Science Fiction Builds: Drones, power armor, spacecraft plating
• Industrial Dioramas: Steel beams, warehouse supports, weathered scaffolding
• Railroad Scenes: Steel bridges, freight equipment, wheel chassis
• Armor & Military Gear: Mortars, field equipment, artillery housing

Suggested Pairings

• Gunmetal or Sabre Steel for drybrushed highlights on weaponry or plating
• Tarnished Black or Engine Black for shadow accents or panel lining
• Reefer Gray for aged fade effects on oxidized steel
• Depot Buff for contrast when painting rail support infrastructure

Airbrush Tips

  • Spray at 18–22 PSI for optimal control
  • Allow thin layers to build to full coverage
  • Ideal base for chipping fluid or salt-weathering techniques
  • Use over black or dark gray primer to deepen the metallic tone

Charlotte ★★★★★

Sprayed this straight from the bottle on a 1/72 sci-fi panel and it laid down smooth with zero tip dry. The muted blue-gray is exactly the steel tone I wanted, and it covers fine detail in one pass without flooding the panel lines. Twenty ml goes further than I expected too.

Violet ★★★★★

I thinned a lot of acrylics myself for years and always ended up with tip dry or spatter, but this one went straight into the airbrush and laid down smooth, even coats on the panel lines. The 20ml bottle is small, though I only needed a few drops per pass so it's lasting fine.

Kevin ★★★★★

The muted blue-gray is exactly the color I wanted for the panel work on my sci-fi build, and it covered the fine details in one pass. No thinning needed, which saved me a lot of guesswork at the bench.
